Glasgow's Top Dating Spots

With lots of green spaces, bags of cultural heritage, a UNESCO-recognised music scene, great bars and an exciting culinary landscape, Glasgow provides a wealth of date ideas. And for those looking to meet someone new, there are plenty of places to hang out with other singles. Here are Glasgow’s top dating spots.

Where should I go on a date in Glasgow?

If you’re looking for a central meeting point for your date, Buchanan Bus Station has the ideal landmark that’s hidden in plain sight, across from the bus stands. Find the statue known as the “Winchers’ Stance”; a bronze sculpture of two reuniting (or parting) young lovers, created in 1994 for Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive. You might like to Instagram yourselves for posterity. Then move on to one of Glasgow’s top dating spots…

Merchant City

Right at the heart of the city centre, this pocket of Glasgow is popular with professionals for after-work drinks and office dos, making it an ideal spot to check out the local talent. We love it so much, we chose it is as our setting for Slow Dating events in Glasgow. You’ll find us at Bar Soba on a regular basis, where the bar staff serve up some lip-smackingly good cocktails.

Ashton Lane

The cobbled street of Ashton Lane is slung with fairy lights and backed by beer gardens, giving it a charming, almost fairytale vibe that provides a gorgeous backdrop for your date come rain or shine. There’s a buzzy yet sophisticated atmosphere, a range of places to eat and drink, and cuisine that ranges from traditional Scottish food to authentic Asian noodle dishes. In the summertime its alfresco seating makes it prime for soaking up some rays and getting to know other drinkers and diners.

The street art trail

This forms more than a single spot, so it’s perfect if you want to get some fresh air together and wander the urban metropolis, viewing it from a different perspective. Glasgow’s street art trail is ever evolving and one of the newest attractions. You can follow an online guide yourself, or join a tour, to see the huge murals adorning the ex-industrial buildings, tenements, underpasses and purpose-built structures around the city. It’ll provide lots of conversation points as you muse on the artist’s intention and take on the scenes depicted.

Everyman Glasgow

We’re spoilt for choice in the city, with gorgeous vintage cinemas in historic buildings, like the Grosvenor and Glasgow Film Theatre. But if you really want to impress him or her with a movie in a fancy setting, head to the upscale Princess Square mall, in which you’ll find the Everyman at the lower ground level. The cinema has an art deco feel, and some of the fanciest loos around! It shows old classics, art house films, as well as box office hits.

Stereo and Mono

We’re not talking about types of speaker output here, but rather two of the country’s most popular vegan restaurants come music venues. They’re both found in the city centre, are owned by the same people and have become known for their super-friendly, inclusive ethos, that’s conducive to chilled out socialising. The plant-based food is superb for a dinner date, but if you want to meet other singles, book a ticket to hear some live music, where you can mill among the crowd and get chatting with those who enjoy the same bands as you.

Romantic walks in Glasgow

The most prominent locations for a romantic stroll are Pollock Country Park, the Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove Park, Rouken Glen and Queens Park. The latter also hosts frequent events at its open-air stage come the summer months. But you’ll find many alternative options if you’re already a regular at these go-to outdoor spaces. You can walk the old railway path from Glasgow Harbour as far as Loch Lomond. Or check out the villagey backdrop of Snuff Mill Bridge at the Cathcart entrance to Linn Park. And there are some pretty trails alongside the canal from Kelvindale to Maryhill Lochs.
